If you’re looking for a charming holiday getaway this year, come spend part of your Christmas in Baltimore this winter. With the variety of events and scenery offered during the holiday season, Baltimore is one of the top Christmas destinations on the east coast. Christmas in Baltimore has something to offer for everyone, including beautiful light exhibits, great shopping and fun festivals.
One of the best weekends to experience Christmas in Baltimore is the weekend of December 6th. The first weekend in December is the perfect time to start gearing up for the holiday season, and there is plenty to do in Baltimore to get you ready. The whole weekend, you can enjoy some of Baltimore’s main attractions for just $1, including the Christmas village, the National Aquarium, Top of the World and the Science Center.
The National Aquarium offers a polar express 4D experience, while the Top of the World offers the chance to see all the scenes from the best view in Baltimore. Then on December 7th, you can catch the 41st Annual Mayor’s Christmas Parade at 1 pm.
Other events this weekend include the Fell’s Point Olde Tyme Christmas on December 6th and The Christmas Story in Art Walk-in tour at The Walters Art Museum.
One of the newest ways to celebrate Christmas in Baltimore is by taking a trip through the traditional Christmas village. In its first appearance in 2013, the Christmas Village hosted over 150,000 visitors for a fresh and unique Christmas celebration. This holiday village is a re-creation of a traditional German style Christmas village which boasts two massive Christmas trees, over 40 vendors, and a variety of fun events. Some of these events include a black Friday celebration, German American weekend, Touchdown weekend and the make a wish charity weekend.
On top of all of these fun events, don’t forget to experience Christmas at the Baltimore harbor, with fun offerings like the skating rink, window wonderland, and Santa’s place light shows and photos. At Harbor East, the window wonderland showcases unique art starting November 19th, with decorated windows by local Baltimore artists. At Inner Harbor, the ice rink is open every day where you can rent skates and enjoy the winter season with friends and family. Finally, at Harbor place, you can catch special light shows every half hour from 6 pm to 8 pm to finish off a good holiday evening.
