It’s So Natural…

We’re excited to announce the opening of the new James and Anne Robinson Nature Center in Columbia, Maryland, located about eight miles from The Wayside Inn.

The Robinson Nature Center is a nature education facility situated on eighteen acres of land near the Middle Patuxent Environmental Area, which provides more than one-thousand acres of forest, meadows and river valley for you to explore.

Inside, visitors of all ages enjoy interactive exhibits on local habitats, wildlife, and the Chesapeake Bay. There’s also a children’s discovery room and a digital, domed nature theater. Outside, you can explore interpreted trails leading to the Middle Patuxent River and the historic Simpsonville Mill.

Nestled into a hillside, the three-story nature center is a green building designed with energy conservation and sustainability in mind. It uses the newest, proven technologies designed to maximize the use of renewable resources and energy conservation. Upon certification, it will be one of only three LEED Certified Platinum buildings in Maryland.
